The architects wanted the ceilings at the new airport in Odessa to be in the form of wave-shaped petals. They had to have a visual lightness and at the same time hide the ceiling utilities.
Together with our German partner Vogl Deckensysteme, we created ceiling islands with a necessary shape, based on a rendering. A ceiling island with dimensions of 4860x3050 mm consists of 7 prefabricated elements. The ceiling elements were manufactured using materials from the VoglVariety range in a factory in Germany. Specialists of Columbus designed the bearing framework for the assembly of the ceiling elements, taking into account the specifics of the airport roof. It was then assembled and installed at a height of 14m. Building climbers were involved to install the fixings.
